Karaikal Civic Election 2^nd Phase on 14^th  July 2006

            Karaikal:  The Second Phase of Civic Elections in the District will be held on 14^th July 2006 with the scheduled indirect election of Vice Chairman Karaikal Municipality, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Five Commune Panchayats and Vice Presidents of the 27 Village Panchayats are getting elected from amongst the elected representatives of the recently concluded Civic Elections in the Union Territory.

            The State Election Commissioner, Pondicherry has already notified the schedule for the election of representatives of the above posts.

            The date of filing of nomination, withdrawal, scrutiny and polling are stated to beheld on single day  - 14-07-2006. The Returning Officers (33) for the second phase of elections have also been appointed and taken charge.

            The polling will be held in the respective Municipal, Commune Panchayat and  Village panchayat buildings.

            Meanwhile, all the elected representatives of the Civic Election have taken oath    of office on 09-07-2006. The Chairperson Municipality has already taken charge.

            The formal election process in the District will end on 15^th July after completion of four and half month long election process in the District which started with preparatory work for Assembly Elections since 1^st  March and then on to the Civic Election up till now.
